Verizon Business and Wipro introduced a joint network-as-a-service (NaaS) offering designed to support network infrastructure consumption on demand.
Organizations are trying to avoid endless technology refresh cycles, but traditional hardware and fixed infrastructures often stand in the way, according to Massimo Peselli, Verizon Business SVP and CRO of global enterprise and public sector. "Our partnership with Wipro will enable businesses to future-proof their network in a manner that is more flexible, agile and predictive, centered around their specific needs," Peselli added.
NaaS replaces legacy network architecture like hardware-based VPNs and MPLS connections or on-premises networking appliances like firewalls and load balancers. Enterprises use NaaS to operate and control a network without needing to purchase, own, or maintain network infrastructure.
Analyst firm IDC reported that 69% of global respondents are planning to invest in network transformation over the next 12 months, highlighting NaaS' position as a challenger to legacy network models that necessitate substantial upfront capital.
Wipro's new NaaS offering is powered by Verizon Business infrastructure and comprises various pre-configured and tested service chains available to customers in a subscription-based model. This will accelerate both network modernization and cloud transformations for businesses across industries, according to the vendors.
Specifically, the partnership will help Wipro transition its customers from legacy hardware, application, and service deployment cycles to "automated, self-healing, and highly secure network service environment."
Wipro SVP and Global Head of Cloud and Infrastructure Service Jo Debecker noted this partnership joins two industry leaders "to drive this unique value proposition that will help our customers keep pace with changing demands of the cloud and network infrastructure while achieving operational efficiencies and agility at scale."
