Teradyne has announced its agreement to acquire Quantifi Photonics, focusing on enhancing photonic integrated circuit testing capabilities. The acquisition is projected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2025, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approval.

This move aims to provide scalable test solutions for photonic integrated circuits in the high-performance compute market, catering particularly to AI workloads. Teradyne CEO Greg Smith noted the growing demand for optical interconnect solutions that address bandwidth needs and reduce power consumption in next-generation networks.

Quantifi Photonics co-founder and CEO Iannick Monfils expressed that combining the expertise of both companies positions them well to improve high-volume manufacturing of photonics. He emphasized the need for innovative solutions in the rapidly evolving silicon photonics market, stating that their collaboration will offer complete turn-key test solutions for customers.
